# Point of Sale (Beta)

Purple Dot is developing the capability to transact pre-order sales via Shopify POS. This feature is currently in a Beta testing phase and will be made available to more merchants in due course.

## How it works?

Purple Dot can allow in-store staff to transact pre-orders through our Point of Sale extension. It leverages our draft pre-order capability and allows the sales assistant to build a pre-order cart on behalf of the shopper.

The shopper is sent an email with a payment link to complete the transaction.

The fulfilment is managed in the same way as online pre-orders and will be shipped to the shopper once inventory arrives.

The sales staff and store location are captured as part of the transaction to allow appropriate commission calculations and reporting.

## Installation steps

1. Contact us to get started.
2. Purple Dot will install our "Pre-order POS" app into your store. This is an embedded app that can be launched from the Shopify POS app.
3. Add the app to a Smart Grid page to allow staff to use it in-store.

## Permission requirements from the merchant

Purple Dot will request the `read_users` permission to allow the Pre-order POS app to attribute sales to staff members.
